A Certain Girl
A ballad of desolation
“Thinking is difficult, that's why most people judge.”
~Jung Carl
There lived a certain girl in a far off land,
She was too "weird" for anyone to understand.
But she harboured enigmas impossible to unravel,
For she saw her house filled with ghouls holding gavels.
She would sneak off to the storage room after dark,
Question the shadows as if they could make some remark.
All she ever wanted was a shoulder to cry on,
All she got was the spiteful faces—that kept her up past dawn.
So she determined to leave the place that wiped out her hopes,
Yet, when she walked, she'd feel the tug of the ropes.
Her desolation knew no end or so she thought,
Life does carry more than mere distraught.
She beheaded the fiends one by one,
For she now knew her life had just begun.
The phantoms still crept beneath her bed,
Still, she told herself it was all in her head.
One fateful day, destiny held her by the hand,
Forewarned her for what it had planned.
Blood gushed, blinkers flashed, people amassed,
But she now reposed in a place too aghast.
At last, no longer troubled by the mystic worries of Earth,
The girl found trance without ever knowing her worth.
Her body would decay for decades under the land,
But atleast she wouldn't have to follow anyone's command.

Imagine procrastinating for an entire 24-hours only to write a depressing poem. Istg this is not in any way a reflection of how I feel but rather just a narration of something thousands of people deal with— loneliness, not accepting they're depressed, struggling to find an identity, cutting off toxic family lines and even letting life carry you away.
Thank you for reading! 🫶
I hope this was provoking enough to stick because as long as we treat mental health as a taboo, there won't be “A Certain Girl” but rather a million such.
