Back, Again?
A poem about forgotten dreams
“ Let your dreams outgrow the shoes of your childhood.”
Take me back, again,
Back to when dreams ascended skies,
Back when I wasn't asked to downsize,
Back when they were mine to criticise,
Not prone to the society's replies,
They still made it beyond the fluffy pillowcase,
They used to be my happy place,
The kind of things that were mine to embrace,
Not the impalpable kind that brought disgrace,
Yet now they often feel lost in the dark,
Like that one little kid in the park,
Stranded around a tree's bark,
Abandoned 'cause he failed to leave a mark,
I thought I outgrew those childish notions,
Just like wanting to be a witch—dissolving potions,
Now they feel similar to commotions,
Drowning me into the deepest of sorrowful oceans,
They somehow stay embedded in fate,
Become stories mine to narrate,
Even if they cannot resuscitate,
They will forever remain in my soul's estate,
And so I don't want to go back again, anymore.

Lmao I had to post this four days ago yet I kind of disappeared and forgot about it.
This one’s about outgrowing the dreams of the person you no longer are yet how they remain a part of you forever because even though they seemed far-fetched, they were and always will be yours to look back to even if you didn't get a chance to live them.
I know the rhyme scheme sucks but it's how I originally started writing poems.
Thanks for reading! 🫶
